Who needs SCFHS registration

Every doctor, nurse, pharmacist, dentist and allied health professional must hold a valid professional registration from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) before practising in any healthcare facility in Saudi Arabia.

Steps: Mumaris Plus, DataFlow, classification, exam, registration

  1. Mumaris Plus. Classification, registration and renewal all run through Mumaris Plus, the SCFHS platform. You can apply for classification from outside Saudi Arabia, without a work permit.
  2. DataFlow verification. DataFlow verifies foreign qualifications, licenses and experience letters with the institutions that issued them. Qualifications issued in Saudi Arabia do not need it.
  3. Professional classification. SCFHS classifies you by title and level based on your qualification and country of training. Some classifications are decided directly; others need a written exam or a practical evaluation.
  4. Exam. Where an exam applies, you sit it at a Prometric or Pearson VUE centre, in Saudi Arabia or abroad.
  5. Registration. With lawful residence and a letter from your Saudi employer, SCFHS registers you and issues your professional license.

Timeline

SCFHS publishes its own service times: about 7 working days for a classification decided directly, 30 working days for one that needs a written exam, and 5 working days for registration. DataFlow verification usually takes 15 to 25 working days, plus the time to book and sit the exam.

Costs

SCFHS fees, the DataFlow fee and any exam fee are set by them and paid separately. Your first consultation with Alpha Health Group is free. The licensing process itself is a paid service.

Renewal

Professional registration lasts two years and is renewed through Mumaris Plus, from three months before it expires. Each renewal needs continuing professional development hours: 60 for physicians, 40 for pharmacists and specialists, and 20 for technicians.
